My client had a very lovely guest room and bathroom that had high ceilings. But the side walls were so low that you couldn’t get any real views out them. She wanted to cut dormers into the roof to bring in more light, and to widen the room by making it possible to stand next to the wall without hitting your head on the ceiling. She had a great contractor who has done a lot of work at her house and was familiar with the style. And she had seen a nice set of dormer windows on a nearby house that we used for a starting point.

We cut into the roof and wall, and reframed it for the new windows.

The change in the light and feel of the space is immense. It’s a much more inviting and enjoyable room now.

I don’t have a cost – the client used a contractor she has worked with for a long time. I don’t have any pictures of the bathroom in it’s final state – just with the new dormer.
